Character traits

It is amazing that the character traits you model or talk about for what seems like forever finally come to fruition. I watched a friend's boys today and they were a little sad leaving Mommy. So we were driving to our house and Easton says, " Boys it is ok. You can come to my house and we can watch a movie." He was so kind and tenderhearted it made me so proud of him. He had such humility. I am so proud of my little man. He has also been wanting to say the prayer when we eat and when he goes to bed. The stuff he prayers for amazes me. I am blown away. He is so attentive to things that I did not even know he knew anything about. Like a couple month's ago a friend was struggling with some work stuff and Jon and I had been talking about it. Well, that night Jon asked Easton who he wanted to pray for and he said our friend's name. He has a very sensitive spirit.

The Backyardigans came to Sprout

We met Pablo and Uniqua today at Sprout. The kids were not quite sure what they were seeing but at least they did not cry. They were just a bit sheepish.

Happy Mother's Day

I had one of the best Mother's Day today. I am was very thankful for it. I was woken up at 6:30 am when Easton came in and threw my present on me. I was like what the heck are you doing. I am a bit of bear when I wake up abruptly especially when someone throws something on me. Then Jon comes in and I say what is this holding up a chain. He goes your present it is a necklace. I said all it is is a chain. He said, "Oh Crap and starts digging through the sheets and found the pendent part." I said, "Do we really have to do this now." He said, " I thought you were already awake." I said, "No I was woken up by Easton." Easton told him I was awake so that is why they both came in. Jon says we have to let Mommy sleep it is her special day. So I got to sleep more then later that morning we went out to Pigeon Forge to the outlets and had lunch. It was a wonderful day. Then Jon got me a yummy ice cream cake. I got a very pretty 3 diamond necklace (click on the above photo to see it) and card that Easton recorded a message too. He did a great job spoiling me and made me feel very appreciated. The kids had a great day and had lots of fun too.

I met a friend at the park today. Makenlee climbed the play structure and went down the slide all by herself. She is so daring and fast.

I hate Junk mail

Since I am trying to make a better earth for my kids I found a site that let's you get rid of junk mail which always ends up being thrown away anyway. It is free and it gives you the info to remove yourself from mailing lists so you stop getting all that junk mail.

Makenlee is a independent girl already. She wants to feed herself and try her hand at the spoon now. I knew there was a reason I did not let E eat w/ a spoon till he was a lot older. E walked up to her after and said, "Oh, Makenlee."

Free TCBY Yogurt on Mom's Day

Just found out on that TCBY is giving away a free cup or cone for Mom on May 11 (Mother's Day). Now that's what I'm talkin' about. What a great treat for the Mamas and it does not cost a thing.

Verses

When Jon and I picked our children's life verse when they were babies and then had them read at their dedication. (well, only Easton's was read theoretically, Rock Harbor is cool for doing that). But we did make photo cards with the kids picture and verse so people would have a remembrance of the day and to pray for them. It really was suppose to be a verse we choose novels. J/K. But one verse is not enough for us. We desire for our kids to live what their verses say. So I guess they should be called life verses....

Messy Face

We had chicken pot pie for dinner and I was giving M her dinner and the next thing I know I look over and she is smearing it all over her face and hair. Rubbing her eyes and laughing. It was everywhere. She was a complete mess. Needless to say she had a bath thereafter.

Water Table Fun

The kids played with the water table today before nap. They had fun and were enjoying the spring weather. I stripped them down as they got very wet.

Free Ice Cream at Ben and Jerry's

We go to Ben and Jerry's for the free cone day every year. Why not get yummy "healthier" ice cream and support a good cause. This year it was ONE. Bono's charity. The kids enjoyed it. I even gave Makenlee some licks and a empty cone.

Discovery Museum

Since we had to be out of the house for a day and a half b/c we were getting new floor. I decided to go to Chattanooga. There were other moms that I knew that were going to the discovery museum for a playdate. Stacey and I decided to spend the night though since we were all exhausted from a long day. The kids had tons of fun and of course had more fun when we had a sleepover w/ 4 kids.

All the kids packed in the van. We made a stop at Smoothie King on the way out for some nourishment. You can only see Sammie and E since Casey and Makenlee are rear facing. I meant to get a picture of them but forgot too.

Sammie saying, "Come on Easton." She loves telling him what to do. She is like his big sister Stacey and I decided. She is always looking out for Easton and always wants to help him. She will be a good Mama or a bossy wife. Ha.

On the roof of the museum is an outdoor play area with all these cool things for the kids to do. Of course Makenlee wants to do whatever braa braa is doing.

New Dining Room Floor

We got new dining room floor this weekend. The kids and I went away for the night and came home Saturday afternoon and it was done. It turned out great. We are really pleased. It was a huge blessing b/c the tile was given to us and the labor was super affordable. It was 1/2 of what Home Depot charges. So we scored. We hated that there was carpet in the dining room and it was getting thrashed with 2 kids and all the food spills.

Happy Earth Day

A few little things I'm happy about on Earth Day:

I'm happy that reusable bags are all the rage and that grocery stores are starting to give them away for free.

I'm happy that I can buy store brand organic products for much less than national brand organics. I'm not so happy when only the wealthy can afford to be green.

I'm happy that my Target brand cereal box has been revamped to include 50% post-consumer recycled content and that they've done away with the inner bag all together. Hooray for store brands taking the lead!

I'm happy that the combination of higher diaper prices and killer diaper deals has meant you can get greener disposables like Seventh Generation for the same price as Cruisers or Huggies Supreme.

I'm happy about all the press cloth diapering has gotten this year and that it's easier and more appealing than ever to make the switch. I love cloth diapering Makenlee and she is quite stylish in her dipes. She is even a model for a CD company and they used her shots for their website and press. Who is cuter the dipe or her? HMM. I am biased.

I'm happy that I use mostly all-natural, biodegradable cleaning products. No more toxins in my home.

I'm happy that I am using more glass storage containers rather then plastic.

I'm happy Makenlee does not drink from a bottle and that I don't have to worry about BPA. I am on the verge of getting rid of the plastic sippy cups too.

Opening a gift from braa braa

Makenlee loved her present from Braa Braa.

Easton picked it out and was so happy to give her her present. He kept wanting to give it to her once he picked it out a few eeks ago and I had to keep telling him not till her b-day. Well, today he FINALLY got to give it to her. He then preceded to play with it too. Hmm I wonder if that was the his plan all along.
